One question I get asked fairly often is: Jonathan, what camera do you use? The truth is, there’s no piece of equipment that can compensate for a lack of skill and experience. I have found that the most significant movements forward in image quality have come from modifying techniques, gaining experience, and continuously practicing… not from buying a new piece of equipment. With all that said, I have found that the better the gear, the EASIER it is to get the shots that I construct in my head. Could you paint a building with toothbrush? Yes, but it wouldn’t be very efficient. Similarly, I have found quality coming more consistently as my arsenal grows.
